Normande Jack

Normande Jack

HB No. CAX94-001

Bred by Cruickshank Normande Limousin

  • sire. FILIP
    • m.g.s. BERRICHON
  • dam. NORMANDE FROU FROU

Jack was bought at Carlisle in the May 1995 Show and Sale for the top price of 8,900 gns when he was judged Supreme Champion out of an entry of 350 bulls. He was selected for his growth, shape and character together with strong maternal background. After his purchase he was shown extensively and had the distinction of winning his class at all the Royal shows and was also Res. Male Champion at Limousin 2,000 judged by Jean Luc Kress.

Unfortunately, we lost Jack in an accident after only two seasons work, but his influence on the herd will be far reaching through his exceptional daughters, which are by far the milkiest beef females we have come across.  Many of the herds’ best females today carry Jack on the female side of their pedigree – Superbe, Brenhines, Coleen and Treasure (15,000gns).

Goldies Hallmark

Goldies Hallmark

HB No. GS92-003

Bred by J K Goldie

  • sire. EPATANT
  • dam. GOLDIES BABETTE

Hallmark was purchased privately in 1993 from the well-known Goldies Herd as our pick of the Epatant sons. He was a stylish, showy bull who quickly went on to win the Male Championship at the Royal Welsh Show (one of the youngest ever to do so).

As with Normande Jack, we lost Hallmark in late 1994, and therefore had little more than a crop of calves by him. His great legacy to the herd will again be the crop of females that have become great cows that have already bred some top bulls.

Rake Denver

Rake Denver

JKD-006

Bred by R & J Jobling

  • sire. RAKE TERENCE
  • dam. PALOMA

Denver is considered the “grand-father” of the herd, and must be credited with raising the profile of the herd within the British Herd Book. He was bred by Dick and Joyce Jobling in Yorkshire and must arguably be the great Rake Terence’s best breeding son.

He had an illustrious show career culminating in the Supreme Championship Limousin and Interbreed “Fitzhugh” Championship at the Royal Welsh Show in 1992. Also at this show his first son, Dyfri Grand Prix won the Interbreed Champion Beefbreeder Young Bull, and was subsequently sold to the Scottish Milk Marketing Board for their AI stud. He became one of the most successful AI sires ever in the UK.

His daughters bred bulls sold to 11,000 gns and 8,000 gns.  Many of todays best females in the herd carry Denver in the back pedigree.

Ramadan

Ramadan

87-80-001-931

Bred by M.Mariaux

  • sire. NESTOR
  • dam. NADINE

Ramadan was our original Limousin purchase and had won the Limoges show as a 6 month calf in 1980 at the same show as his dam won her class for calved heifers. Much of his work for us was in the early years and mainly on our commercial suckler herd. However, the few females that he left in the pedigree herd had quite an impact.

Pantin

Pantin

FR87 08 920 178
Bred by Serge Lajudie.

Pedigree and Performance

In 2002 we bought Pantin as a 3 year old not only for his obvious conformation and fleshing, but also for the phenomenal quality of his paternal sisters (by Nickel) in the Lajudie Herd. Having been used on only seven cows in the Autumn of 2002 he then became our main successor to Jockey.

He bred exceptionally well for us, and we still use him by AI to this day.  He was very easy calving and produced males and females of exceptional quality.  His first daughter here, Ultrabright is one of our very best cows today.

A true Limousin excelling in Growth, Muscle and Maternal traits.

Safran

safran

FR 87 00 670 414
Bred by Camus Pere & Fils

Pedigree and Performance

Safran was bought as a young calf in 2001 from the famed Camus herd as our pick of the Malibu calves. He was an extremely muscular bull, almost obscenely so, but also had great length and depth. He looked every inch a bull breeder, but the years proved him to be an exceptional female breeder, ilustrating the dominance of his great sire, Malibu, and the exceptional dam, Idole.

Senateur

Senateur

FR 16 29 597 307
Bred by GAEC Del’Elevage Tournier

Pedigree and Performance

Senateur was also bought as a 10 month old calf. We were attracted to the rare combination of extreme growth and style and muscularity in such a young animal.

Although bought in Autumn 2002, for reasons beyond our control, it was late in 2003 that we took delivery of him, and he only arrived to catch a couple of females at the end of the season.

It was intended to show him in 2004 at the Royal Welsh and the ILC International Show. Unfortunately he ripped his ring out a few weeks before and had to stay at home. However, many who attended our ILC open day in August 2004 were mightily impressed by him, with some labeling him “the best bull of the whole ILC”.

As expected, Senateur has produced an exceptional bunch of females. Growth, length, structure and milk are their trademark.  The sort of females that are ready to breed to a range of sires
